Research Summary:
The overall goal of my laboratory is to use a translational research approach to understand the mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis and the clinical implications of myosteatosis (i.e. muscle quality), or the infiltration of fat within muscle tissue, in aging and age-related diseases. My lab has developed a comprehensive bench to bedside approach utilizing molecular and metabolic assays, coupled with in vivo imaging techniques in human populations suffering from muscle wasting (e.g. cachexia and sarcopenia) to develop biomarkers of myosteatosis.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Jess, and our kids.
